![]() Written by TjG743 on Tuesday, 8th Mar 2011 22:39 Some of you reading this may feel that the beginning of March is a slightly odd time to be starting a new football blog, and, to be quite honest, I completlely agree with you. However, there is good reason for me to be initiating my first venture into the virtual world of expression at this moment in time. The first being that I am currently in the middle of my first year at Sixth Form, where the subjects I take are Maths, Further Maths, German and Economics, so any opportunity to do anything vaguely creative is one I will grasp with almost excessive enthusiasm. My second reason is that, following the fantastic result on Saturday in South Wales on top of many other positives associated with the new manager, I can only see the club moving forward from the position we currently find ourselves in and for me to be able to comment on and analyse the fortunes of our football club is an idea that quite appeals to me Even though I may only be 17, I am already in my 13th season as a season ticket holder at Portman Road, so I have seen a fair share of ups and downs over the years. Fortunately, for the vast majority of time as a Town fan, the ups have outweighed the downs. Unfortunately, the season and a half before January of this year has largely consisted of down points and mediocrity, with a few small exceptions. Despite this, every other Saturday around 19,000 Town fans and I would trudge to Portman Road with little expectation, occasionally questioning our motives for making the trip and generally having little fun. It was not until that magical night of Tamas Priskin's immortalisation in Suffolk folklore that I remembered why I started coming to football (aside from being too young to make a decision for myself and having to do what parents told me) and kept coming back each season. Ever since that gently curling side-footed shot rippled the net behind Wojciech Szczesny, I, like most regular Town fans, have started to look forward to Saturdays with more hope and more excitement and more optimism. Unlike many football fans, I don't believe sacking the manager is the answer to the problems faced by a struggling team but, on this occasion, I am more than happy to admit that I am wrong. The change in the players, the fans and even the media is unmeasurable and I sincerley hope this 'bubble' can be carried forward into next season, when we can have a proper stab at making it to the top. In case you were wondering, I wrote this before tonight''s game but didn''t get round to posting it! Please report offensive, libellous or inappropriate posts by using the links provided.
